Female police officer charged following incident involving heavily-tinted vehicle

A female police officer attached to the Praedial Larceny Squad has been arrested and charged with obstruction and resisting arrested after being stopped by police for a heavily tinted vehicle.

The officer spent the night in prison after she was unable to secure bail before the end of the court day on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that Northern Division officers were conducting a road exercise in Tacarigua on Monday when they had cause to pull over a heavily tinted vehicle.

While interviewing the driver, the WPC who was a passenger in the vehicle, began to object.

Judge gives police extra time to hold detainee in murder of WPC

Homicide detectives have until Monday to charge or release the first suspect they held in connection with the murder of WPC Nyasha Joseph.

High Court Judge Nadia Kangaloo gave the order yesterday, after hearing a habeas corpus application challenging the detention of the 36-year-old Sea Lots resident over the past week.

Ramesar wants nationwide search for missing WPC

Police Service Social and Welfare Association general secretary, Insp Anand Ramesar, yesterday questioned why the TT Police Service (TTPS) had not mounted a nationwide search for missing WPC Nyasha Joseph.

“We are not seeing that concerted effort...that mobilisation of police officers so that we could have a profound investigation into this matter. We want some real intensified efforts into resolving this issue,” Ramesar said in a telephone interview, as the search for Joseph entered its fifth day today.

Ag Supt, WPC appear in court on fraud-related charges

Two police officers, including an acting superintendent have appeared in court on fraud-related charges.

The officers, aged 55 and 40, have been granted bail and will reappear in February 2017.

Female officer shot last night, discharged from hospital

The female police officer who was shot in Hell Yard, Beetham Thursday night, has been discharged from hospital.

Confirmation of the officer's discharge came via a media statement from the Police Service:

"The woman police officer, who was shot along with a male officer, while involved in an anti-crime exercise in Hell Yard, Beetham Gardens, Port of Spain, on Thursday 4th August, 2016, was earlier today discharged from the Port of Spain General Hospital.
